Gratitude is an emotion that is typically evoked when one receives costly, unexpected, and intentionally rendered benefits, and is thought to play a key role in regulating the initiation and maintenance of social relationships.

Gratitude is the expression of appreciation for what one has. It is a recognition of value independent of monetary worth. Spontaneously generated from within, it is an affirmation of goodness and warmth.

After knowing what gratitude really is, I am going to share some pictures and stories behind those pictures that played a key role in making of my personality.

So, the first picture is a thank giving letter to my cousin Muhammad Nadeem aka Nadeem Shah. A very beloved friend, a brother and much more. So let’s see the picture first:

Nadeem Shah has been very attached to me and vice versa, after my father’s death. He is older than me but we have been best friends ever since. After completing my Intermediate, when I was waiting to join my University I got a letter from my University that I have to submit my documents by hand the next day. I was really tensed what to do as it was evening already and if I didn’t reach Faisalabad tomorrow I would be disqualified. I had never left my home and went this far alone before. All of a sudden, he came to me and supported me, asked me not to worry and said let’s go together. Then we embarked on the journey later that night and reached Faisalabad at nearly 4 AM, and this isn’t just the end, he accompanied me many times and has been a source of encouragement all along.

When I gave him this letter he didn’t say much as he is shy and doesn’t show emotions just like me. He just smiled but I know him more than anyone else, he was definitely happy and would be saying that we’ll stay the same forever In Sha Allah. A picture of us together would be great…😁

And without the next picture this whole gratitude thing would be unfair. So, the next picture is about the letter to my everything my Ammi Jaan. So, let’s dig in:

My mother has been my lifeline from the start, but after my father’s death she took everything on herself and made us what we are today. She showed us the true meaning of being selfless and care. She became the light for us in the world of the darkness. Although, she hasn’t studied that much but how she handled us and made us stand on our feet is a great source of encouragement for everyone. In the end I would only say that I love her so much. Without you I would have been nothing. Thank you for everything.

“Cultivate the habit of being grateful for every good thing that comes to you, and to give thanks continuously. And because all things have contributed to your advancement, you should include all things in your gratitude.”

― Ralph Waldo Emerson
