To help those people who are in real need of help but don’t ask due to honor or esteem. “Safaid Posh”
First of all, we should know about what is Welfare? and why it is done?
Welfare refers to a range of programs that provide financial or other aid to individuals or groups who cannot support themselves.The goals of welfare vary, as it looks to promote the pursuance of work, education or, in some instances, a better standard of living.
I have always been very keen on looking people who don’t have basic rights or don’t have enough money for living but still they don’t ask anyone for money or don’t spread their hands in front of anyone.
I always wondered why don’t they just ask anyone to help but as time passed I came to understand that there are many factors which restrict them, and the main reason was Honor or Esteem.
So, Safaid Posh is person belonging to a lower middle class or below who has little enough income to meet both ends. He apparently looks like an established & prosperous person who in fact faces financial hardships but restraints from borrowing money or begging for assistance.
My family Alhamdulillah always helped such people and this urged a feeling inside me to be there voice.
When I was in my Engineering’s Final year, it was Shaban that time and Ramzan the holy month of Islam was to follow. Me and my two other friends Zeeshan and Ali Raza who happened to be my roommates as well, we decided that let’s take the initiative and do something for the persons of the society who really needed our help, the Safaid Posh people.
It led us to start our own welfare society, “Waseela Haq”, with the Moto:
“No one has ever become poor by giving.”
We decided that we have a month to do some collection, and we needed a team for this purpose. So, we started sharing this idea with our colleagues and in couple of days we made a pretty good team and started collecting donations from our University and other friends outside University. Alhamdulillah, we gathered a handsome amount of money and then bought rations for the complete month of Ramzan.
We also had our local team in Faisalabad to find such people who really needed help. It was difficult task but we managed to find twenty plus families among whom we delivered the Rations for Ramzan.
It was a small step but we had this on our mind that we have to hold on to this motive firmly and expand it further.
Now, we are still working on this idea individually in this recent situation of Covid-19 because we have graduated and it was difficult to gather the same team.
I have decided to take Waseela Haq’s idea for the mega project. For this purpose, I decided to visit some areas of our town where I could find such families. I didn’t take pictures of the family members as I thought it would create a feeling of shame.
I also know many families in our own colony who fall in this category, and In Sha Allah hope to work in order to achieve my motive.
It was a great experience and an emotional trip as well because, such type of people really show you the real meaning of faith and belief, and after seeing them we really get to know that how much we owe to the people around us and how it is our obligation to help those who are in need.
The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well.
